Command-Line Interface (CLI)

You know when you’re watching a movie set in the 1970s and you see a computer that’s just got a black screen with green lines of text on it? The dude who’s using the computer has to type in his commands, hit enter, and let the computer do its thing. That’s a command line interface.

Do people still use command-line interfaces today?

They absolutely do. And with good reason…

These days, most software runs with sophisticated UI to make the program more user-friendly. This is a massive advantage for casual users, because it helps them easily navigate the interface. However, for developers, command-line interfaces are usually preferred.

To help our community of user-developers, the Coveo platform allows developers to manage Coveo with code and gain access to tools that help index content, design a UI, and troubleshoot deployments.
