This Cookie Notice (the or this “Notice”) outlines how Coveo Solutions, Inc. and its affiliates (“Coveo” or "we," "us" and "our") use cookies, web beacons and other technologies (collectively in this Notice, "cookies") to customize and improve our website www.coveo.com and related domains that Coveo operates and that link to this Notice (collectively in this Notice, “Website”). We will explain what these technologies are, how we use them, and how you can change and control your settings depending on the level of personalization you require.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a piece of data contained in a small text file that is stored in your browser when you visit a website, in order to remember information about you such as your preferences or past actions. They may be set by the entity operating the website, in this case Coveo (“First-party Cookies”) or come from a domain different from the domain of the website you are visiting (“Third-party Cookies”). Third-party cookies enable third party features or functionality to be provided on or through the website (for advertising, or interactive content for instance) and can in some cases track your browsing history across different websites.

We may also use other technologies, similar to Cookies, like web beacons (pieces of software code on a web page or in an e-mail message that is used to track pages viewed or messages opened, also known as tracking pixels) or via the use of local storage which  allows data about your browser or device to be stored locally on your browser or device and includes HTML5 local storage and browser cache. We also collect UTM parameters to monitor and optimize the effectiveness of our marketing efforts.

Why do we use these technologies?

We use Cookies for many different purposes: store your preferences and settings, assist with security and administrative functions, gather information on your activities and behavior on our Website, customize and enhance your user experience, identify your areas of interest in order to provide you with relevant content and determine whether you are likely to be interested in our products so that we can better target our marketing efforts. To assist in these efforts, we may also share information about your use of our site with our social media, advertising and analytics partners.

Communications features (for example, our website chat) may involve capturing or recording the contents of your interaction so that we can connect you with our team and improve our support. Where required by law (including California’s all‑party consent requirements), we display a clear notice and obtain your consent before enabling these tools.

Cookies used by Coveo

Coveo uses the following categories of Cookies:

Strictly necessary Cookies

These Cookies are necessary for our Website to function properly, by enabling basic features such as account registration, remembering your Cookies preferences, and ensuring the security and integrity of our Website. They cannot be disabled.

Functionality Cookies

These Cookies allow us to remember the choices you made on our Website, like your preferred language or the region that you are in, and to provide you with a more personalized and effective user experience. They may be set by us or by third party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these Cookies, then some or all of these services may not function properly.

Performance Cookies

Also known as analytics Cookies, these Cookies collect information about your usage of our Website including how long you spend on the Website and the pages you visit. This allows us to measure its performance and helps us to understand how we can improve it accordingly for you and other users.

Marketing & Advertising Cookies

These Cookies may be set by Coveo or by our advertising partners. They are used to display content, including advertisements on the Website and elsewhere on the internet, based on your preferences and interests. We may combine data from multiple sources using scripts, Cookies, and form submissions with a focus on privacy and accuracy. This helps us better understand our audience and make informed decisions about our web presence and marketing strategies to ensure that we provide you with relevant and engaging content.

Chat & Session Recording

This category includes technologies that capture or record the contents of your interactions on our site, for example, when you use our website chat or when we record session activity. We use these tools to connect you with our team, respond to your requests, and improve the support we provide you.

Why we created this category: certain laws restrict the recording or interception of communications. In particular, the California Invasion of Privacy Act (“CIPA”) generally prohibits the interception, recording, or monitoring of the contents of communications, including online interactions, without the prior consent of all parties involved. Similar wiretapping and electronic‑communications laws exist in other U.S. states and jurisdictions. Because these tools can capture the substance of what you type or say on our Website, we treat them as a distinct, consent‑gated category, to ensure we obtain your consent before any recording begins.

We only enable these tools after you provide consent in our preference center or at the point of collection. If you choose not to consent, we will not load these tools and no content will be captured. This may affect your browsing experience, as some interactive features such as live chat will simply not be available. We engage vendors as service providers acting on our behalf and restrict their use of information to our instructions.

Details about all the Cookies we use can be found in the "Adjust Preferences" section of our Cookies banner or on the “Cookies Preferences” link in the footer of our Websites. This information is regularly and carefully updated to ensure its transparency and accuracy.

How to control Cookies

OneTrust Consent Tool. Coveo uses OneTrust as our Cookies consent management tool, which you can utilize to customize your Cookies preferences. When you visit our Website for the first time, a Cookies consent banner will pop up and ask you to customize your Cookies preferences. If you decide to change your preferences at a later date, you can easily do so by clicking on the “Cookies Preferences” link in the footer of our Website. However, blocking some types of Cookies may restrict access to some pages and areas of the Website. Also keep in mind that strictly necessary Cookies cannot be disabled, nor can the tool be used to block Cookies on third-party websites linked from our website.

Google Consent Mode V2. Coveo has integrated Google Consent Mode V2 into its Website to enhance your privacy controls.

Google Consent Mode helps in managing and respecting user consent for Cookies and information collection, enabling websites to comply with privacy regulations while still gathering valuable insights from analytics and advertising tools when consent is given.

By accepting Marketing & Advertising Cookies, you agree to share certain information that are used to personalize your online experience with Google services.

Using Your Browser. Alternatively, most web browsers allow some control of Cookies through the browser settings. Below are links to the Cookies opt-out pages of common web browsers. To find information relating to other browsers, please visit the browser developer's website.

  • Google Chrome

  • Apple Safari

  • Mozilla Firefox

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer

To opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics across all websites, visit Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on Download Page

Do Not Track Signals.  Some browsers allow a “Do Not Track” (“DNT”) setting that requests that a web application disable its tracking of an individual user. If you want to learn more about DNT, you can visit this page. Please note that there is no standardization or consensus around DNT signals at this time. If we detect a DNT signal we will interpret it as an objection to the placement of Marketing & Advertising Cookies.

Global Privacy Control. Global Privacy Control (“GPC”) is a setting in some web browsers that signals a user's preference for privacy, requesting websites to limit data sharing and sales of their personal information. Users can implement GPC by enabling it in compatible browsers or using extensions that support the feature. For more information on GPC and how to enable it, visit this page. Please note that if we detect a GPC signal we will interpret it as an objection to the placement of marketing & advertising cookies.

Cookies Set in the Past. If you accepted Cookies and thereafter deleted or disabled them, the information collected prior to the preference change may still be used. If you did not delete the Cookies but disabled them, they may still be present in your browser. However, we will stop using the disabled Cookie and will not access nor place any further information in the Cookie.

Updates or questions

We may update this Notice from time to time in order to reflect changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. The date at the top of this Notice indicates when it was last updated. We encourage you to periodically review this Notice for the latest information on our use of cookies and related technologies. If you need more information, please contact our privacy team at privacy[at]coveo.com.
