Coveo technology advances radically transform Knowledge Management and Online Experiences, as "The User Becomes the Query" with groundbreaking contextual relevance

  • Coveo today announced significantly accelerated growth in 2013, attributed to its technology innovations, strategic partnerships, and the radical improvements its capabilities are driving in Knowledge Management and Online Experiences. In 2013, Coveo continued to lead the search & relevance industry in innovation as it changed the search paradigm from one of information retrieval to recommended content, as “the user and context become the query.”

  • Rapid and accelerating employee and revenue growth supports new office openings in U.S. and EMEA.
    • Coveo grew both its employee count and revenues in-step, by approximately 50 percent.
    • Employee count grew from 90 to 150 and is expected to increase by a similar amount in 2014.
    • To support its West Coast customers and employee growth in the Bay Area, Coveo opened an office in Silicon Valley in 2013, in San Mateo, CA.

    • Hybrid Cloud/On-Premise Deployments-The move of organizational data to the cloud creates further data fragmentation which Coveo solves by consolidating information from cloud, social and on-premise systems and presenting it within the context of the user, regardless of device type or location.
  • Platform development supports the adoption of next generation Knowledge Management programs and the launch of two new, fully integrated applications
    • Search-powered Knowledge Management-Coveo significantly increased deployments of its paradigm-shifting technology to power next generation knowledge management initiatives among mid- to large-sized organizations, comprising the largest share of the company’s revenue.
    • Coveo for Salesforce, Communities Edition-Following on the heels of Coveo’s Fall, 2012 launch of Coveo for Salesforce, Service Cloud Edition and in response to customer demand, Coveo launched a Communities Edition of its Salesforce app to enable consistent customer experience across channels. Customers in Salesforce Communities and Portals may now have access to the broader enterprise knowledge ecosystem.
      • Coveo for Salesforce, Communities Edition assembles personalized information from multiple social and knowledge sources and presents it in the context of members within Salesforce Customer Communities and Portals, helping members better collaborate and solve challenges via self-service, increasing customer satisfaction and loyalty while driving down customer service costs.

    • Coveo for Sitecore, Advanced Search Edition-Coveo has worked extensively with Sitecore, a leading Customer Engagement Platform provider, and its customers. Coveo is currently Sitecore’s largest technology partner with more than 100 joint implementations. In 2013 Coveo significantly deepened both its partnership and integration with the launch of Coveo for Sitecore, Advanced Search Edition. This application provides a seamless integration with Sitecore Customer Engagement Platform 7. Breaking new ground in the management of online experiences, this new application provides marketers with an out-of-the-box ability to configure and manage an optimal Search & Relevance experience for their website visitors from within their familiar Sitecore interface.
  • Strategic Partnerships Deepened and Total Partnerships Doubled
    • Coveo also deepened its strategic partnership with Salesforce.com with the launch of its new Communities Edition as well as the strong adoption of its Salesforce applications, including among the largest deployments of Salesforce globally. Coveo has partnered effectively with Salesforce to win highly competitive engagements by clearly demonstrating its ability to consolidate information and knowledge across the Salesforce platform as well as to accelerate migrations by bringing data from any system directly into the Salesforce UI, related to the user’s context.
      • Coveo also expanded its Salesforce System Integrator Partner Program with the signing of seven (7) new partners.
      • Coveo entered into a global agreement with Sitecore, a leading customer experience platform provider, to co-market the Coveo for Sitecore, Advanced Search Edition application launched in North America and Europe.
      • Coveo doubled its Partner Training Program to a total of 54 partners, primarily in the areas of Knowledge Management, Enterprise Search and Online Experiences, and has expanded partner certification in Coveo Technology Implementations. 
  • Coveo Search & Relevance Platform Innovations in 2013: Content into Context™ - During 2013 Coveo’s R&D team further developed the four hallmarks of the Coveo platform: Connect, Consolidate, Contextualize, and Engage:

    • Connect-Well known for the broad and deep Connectivity of its platform, in 2013 Coveo continued to extend this to even more systems with the launch of multiple, robust connectors for popular systems including Salesforce Chatter, Salesforce Knowledge, Oracle InQuira, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Sites, SharePoint Online 2013, Livelink, Microsoft Dynamics, and Microsoft Exchange 2013/Online Hybrid. In addition Coveo updated and enhanced its existing connectors where there were new versions of the partner applications. Coveo-developed connectors have the industry’s recognized highest levels of security, performance and scalability
    • Consolidate-Whereas many search engines federate search results from other search systems, Coveo consolidates, or federates, content in its Unified Index. This enables data enrichment functions for high levels of relevance, key to user adoption.
      • Unifying Cloud and On-premise data. The movement of organizations to host data in the cloud further fragments their ability to “connect the dots” between information housed in disparate systems as well as that which is in the minds of its employees and other constituencies. In 2013 Coveo enabled the unification of data across cloud, social and on-premise systems to provide consolidated views of relevant, connected content and experts within any context, by consolidating facsimiles of the content in its Unified Index.
    • Contextualize-Coveo further amplified the Coveo Relevance Engine and Usage Analytics, delivering contextually relevant content for any user, and placing control over relevance tuning in the hands of the administrator and the user. 
      • Coveo now uncovers the context of the user via contextual clues, enabling automatic results or recommendations based on virtually any context. These clues may include:
        • User profile data
        • Behavioral information
        • Workflow and current work status
        • External variables such as the current time, weather, etc.

      • Social Relevance features further enhance context, including:
        • Author Rating, for example an MVP vs. a community “newbie”
        • Expertise highlighting based on top ranked results, votes and specific profile attributes
        • Implicit User Interactions - The more users interact with the system, the more information is collected and used by Coveo to improve search results and recommendations.

        • Social Proximity Ranking
        • Query Suggestions based on past user interactions
        • Conversation Folding shows not only a specific post but its context, the conversation.
    • Engage-Coveo expanded its Mobile User Engagement by completely redesigning a highly configurable user interface builder layer.  Coveo developed a new JavaScript search interface with the Responsive Web Design (RWD) approach. This allows the interface to adapt based on the user device (desktop, smartphone, tablet, etc.).
      • A touch-oriented version of the JavaScript search interface enables Coveo customers to create customized mobile search applications.
      • For implementations requiring a highly customized mobile UI, a new REST API allows integrators to easily deploy and customize a feature-rich search interface in their own mobile pages or applications to present results from a Coveo Unified Index.
      • In addition to adapting to mobile device types, the end-user’s geolocation (retrieved from the device’s GPS) can provide additional context to filter and rank results.
