Bridge the gap between design and technology

As a UX Engineer, you play a crucial role in developing and improving our Coveo Relevance Cloud™ platform, working together with developers, designers, product managers and testers. You will be the specialist and enabler of our Design System. As a front-end development master, you will provide feedback and collaborate with our designers to elevate and accelerate the creation of meaningful, best-in-class user experiences.

The art of making a complex tool accessible to all

Coveo is one of the most advanced tools in the field of search engines for companies and artificial intelligence on the market, and with this performance, we want to be able to make it accessible to all of our users. Coveo is a Canadian company with a highly ambitious team, a thriving tech and design community located in the heart of Quebec, Montreal, Sherbrooke as well as other places around the world. Joining us means being part of a dynamic team, solving exciting challenges, working with inspiring colleagues, and participating in a culture of feedback!

The tools we use to build our state-of-the-art solutions

  • React and Redux to provide one of the best foundations to the front end experience
  • VAPOR, Coveo’s design system
  • TypeScript to help grow our codebase without losing our sanity
  • SCSS as a preprocessor scripting language to be compiled into CSS
  • Webpack and Node.js scripts for automated and optimized builds
  • Jenkins for continuous integration and deployment
  • Jest and Cypress for unit and functional testing
  • Automated code standards to avoid subjective code style debates

Are You up to the Challenge?

Here’s what our ideal candidate would look like:

  • You appreciate elegant interfaces and possess a strong knowledge of React (3-5 years hand-on experience)
  • You’re familiar with TypeScript and its advantages and you’re excited to use it more
  • You understand well the product design related challenges and you are eager to collaborate with designers to craft easy-to-use experiences.
  • You can take rough mockups and create polished experiences
  • You love spending the time to create movement, animations and interactivity in product
  • You simply care about elevating the quality of the solution and you have the users’ needs in mind when you code

 A typical Thursday:

  • Start your day at your Scrum / team coffee meeting
  • Nathan, front-end developer in another team, sends you a PR for a new interface. You decide to do a slack call and advise on using another, newer component for the tables.
  • Before lunch, you have a quick call with Audrey, UX designer to revise an upcoming product and evaluate what new components are needed in the design system.
  • There is a Lunch & learn today about React and Design System Tokens. Yum yum!
  • With a fresh coffee, you join a Backlog Grooming session for the next Sprint. You remember you should mention your meeting with Audrey. There is a new component coming up.
  • It's already 2 pm, and there is a design review today. Lorraine is looking for feedback on the new Data Dashboards, and Gustavo on the new animations. #nomo (Not missing out)
  • You spend most of your afternoon working on updating the new table components for the Machine Learning section. Considering to add a bit of animation on the “collecting data” screen
  • The day is done and there is a ZOOM happy hour, some open a beer, some have sushi, some bring their kids to say hi to their colleagues. It’s Thursday after all.

What you will get yourself into

  • A team of over 600 product development professionals and customer-focused specialists to bounce ideas off
  • A large design team and an existing Design System
  • A culture of collaboration, innovation and feedback
  • Lots of learning opportunities at every corner and all the support to pursue them
  • A transparent career development framework and internal mobility possibilities
  • An open space for making valuable contributions to the product, regardless of the time you have been with us
  • A flexible schedule as well as a work-life balance approach, prioritized by our management teams
  • A hybrid model of work that offers the possibility to work both from home and from the office when the regulations allow it that will be sustained after the pandemic (Coveo CEO vision expressed in this CNN article)
