As part of our ongoing expansion, we are looking for a highly responsive and service-oriented lawyer to join our Commercial Team within the Coveo Legal Team. You will play a key role in supporting our sales team in structuring business transactions with our customers and strategic partners. You will become a member of a well-respected multidisciplinary team within the company in addition to being the right-hand man/woman of our senior commercial counsel.

 

There is no typical day in this role but tomorrow might look like this:

  • Grab a fresh cup of coffee and hop on a team call to discuss world news, share your new favourite song and review the priorities for the day ahead! There are agreements and order forms to review, training materials to put together for the sales team and customer calls to prepare.    

  • Afterwards, you block some solo time to review a customer’s comments on a B2B SaaS agreement after having checked the customer’s specific use case with the assigned account executive.  

  • Before sending back your comments, you have a quick chat with our products team in order to fully address one of the customer’s comments to the document. May no stone be left unturned!  

  • While enjoying the satisfaction of having provided good service to our sales team and prospective customer, you take a few minutes to read a paper about legal risk management that a colleague sent you. You feel so inspired that you immediately use this newly acquired knowledge to boost up your team’s negotiation playbook. 

  • After this well-deserved quiet moment, you respond to various questions from some colleagues from other teams. “Can we use this customer’s logo on our website? What’s our stance on limitation of liability in technology integration agreements again?” 
     
  • You then hop on a call with our head of sales to discuss his team’s needs in terms of training material, FAQ and updated contract documents aligned with market trends. You are very excited to expand on the results of your ongoing SaaS terms benchmarking analysis. On a debrief call with your Commercial Team colleagues, you agree to quickly put together a deck of slides detailing your findings on industry trends so that your team can present on next week’s sales call. 

  • So many projects, so little time. Good thing your teammates are always there to give you a hand and inspire you. 

At the end of the week, you look back on the work you’ve accomplished with satisfaction. Your internal clients commonly refer to your team’s work as small miracles... and you can kind of see why!

First and foremost, our ideal candidate has a fire in his/her belly and takes genuine pleasure in serving their internal clients and helping their teammates. In order to be successful within our team, you must have a natural propensity for collaboration and unparalleled proactivity when it comes to finding solutions and helping others. 

You will also need the following qualifications: 

  • LL.B, JD or equivalent degree and about 2-3 years of work experience in law firms or as an in-house lawyer. 
  • Experience drafting and negotiating complex legal agreements. 
  • Perfectly bilingual (French and English). 
  • Keenness in understanding and solving complex situations in a creative manner. 
  • Strong analytical skills with a superior attention to detail. 
  • Remarkable judgement and business acumen. 
  • Ability to adapt to rapid changes is a must!
