Frequently asked questions

The Coveo Impact Pilot is a low-effort evaluation program that allows you to see Coveo’s AI search and discovery capabilities in action. It captures real behavioral data, runs a hosted side-by-side experience comparison, and delivers a custom insights report that demonstrates through evidence how Coveo can elevate your experience and business outcomes.

By the end of the pilot, you’ll receive two key deliverables:

  • A hosted demo site that shows how Coveo’s AI could enhance your product discovery experience using your catalog and observed behaviors.
  • A concise insights report that highlights the potential business impact of addressing the friction points we identified in your current journey.

The report brings together a modeled view of where Coveo could improve relevance, reduce friction, and influence key commerce metrics, along with estimated business value and clear recommendations. Together, these outputs give you a proof-based view of how Coveo could elevate both customer experience and commercial performance - grounded in your own data, not assumptions.

The Impact Pilot is offered as a no-cost evaluation to qualified prospects. There's no financial commitment required during the pilot phase.

Three things are needed in order to get the impact validation started:

  • Product Feed
Provide a dump of your product catalog in JSON, XML, or CSV format.
  • Coveo Tracking Beacon
Once your product feed is shared, you can install the Coveo beacon on your site. This lightweight script (7-10 KB) allows us to capture user interactions and events that help train and improve our Machine Learning models.
  • Data Analytics
We ask for read-only access to your analytics platform (e.g., Google Analytics) so we can establish baseline performance and understand real user journeys from a source your teams already trust. This helps us pinpoint where the biggest opportunities are today.

If access can’t be granted, we can instead work from a data request form to gather key commerce metrics like session volume, transactions, conversion rate, average order value, etc.

The Coveo beacon captures the following events to fuel our machine learning models:

Search, Listing, Product Click, Product Detail View, Add to Cart, and Purchase.

Coveo typically requires approximately 1M user events to train the models and provide meaningful comparisons. For a site with ~200K monthly visits, plan for an end-to-end window of 5-6 weeks (data collection, modelling, and readout).

The pilot is fully flexible. The beacon is lightweight, does not impact site performance, and can be paused or stopped at any time. If you decide to stop the pilot, Coveo will delete all collected data at the end of the evaluation.

Your effort is minimal — limited to adding a beacon script, sharing your content (product and non-product), providing access to analytics data, and participating in a discovery call. Coveo manages setup, analysis, and reporting through our internal Solutions Engineering and Business Value teams.

We’ll start by identifying friction in your current search experience (e.g., no-results queries, low engagement with top results, frequent reformulations). Then we’ll show how Coveo closes those gaps in a hosted side-by-side experience and model the impact of those improvements.

You’ll be able to compare key commerce and journey-efficiency metrics, including:

  • Relevance & result quality: Are shoppers seeing better matches?
  • No results & reformulations: Are they finding what they want more easily?
  • CR%, AOV, RPV: How does improved discovery influence conversion and revenue?
  • Journey efficiency: Are there fewer dead ends and smoother paths to purchase?

Finally, we’ll connect these improvements to an estimated revenue and efficiency lift, so you can clearly see where Coveo reduces friction — and the business value that creates.

Once the pilot ends, there are two possibilities:

  • If you proceed with Coveo: we may retain the data to help guide and optimize your full implementation.
  • If you do not move forward: your POC organization and all associated data are automatically deleted. POC orgs follow a predefined lifecycle (typically 3 months from creation), after which they are decommissioned and all associated data is removed in accordance with Coveo’s standard deletion processes.
