A master of employment law eager to evolve in a multidisciplinary team of lawyers  

We are looking for a highly motivated and service-oriented lawyer who will act as the lead counsel for all HR matters within the Legal team. As an Employment Counsel you will play a key role in supporting the HR team activities worldwide. You will also join a multidisciplinary team of lawyers and compliance specialists and be the right-hand man/woman to our Director of Legal Compliance.

As one of our Legal Counsel, you will: 

  • Provide guidance to HR business partners and internal stakeholders regarding employment, immigration, Human rights and, more broadly, regarding Coveo’s compliance matters in all jurisdictions where Coveo is located (mainly Canada, US, UK, EU). 
  • Lead the Company’s compliance with the Charter of the French language.
  • Draft & review employment related agreements and documents. 
  • Provide employment related training to HR and management teams and create internal tools to empower the overall knowledge of the Legal team.
  • Assist with any other compliance related matters (e.g. antitrust, export and import restrictions, IP) by providing legal guidance, reviewing and/or creating policies and building internal processes. 

What we are looking for 

Our ideal candidate is a service-oriented individual able to work autonomously, with a propensity to demonstrate sound judgment and be a creative problem solver. 

Here is what will qualify you for the role 

  • An LLB, JD or equivalent degree and membership in good standing in one provincial bar.
  • 2+ years of employment law and compliance experience in a law firm or as an in-house lawyer.
  • Ability to work independently with complex compliance and employment regulations in multiple jurisdictions. 
  • Strong analytical, written and research skills.

What would make you stand out 

  • Experience with immigration law is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Charter of the French language and experience working with the Office Québécois de la Langue Française.
  • Remarkable judgment and ability to distinguish between remote and real risk.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of lawyers and internal stakeholders 
  • Fluent in French and in English.
