As a User Experience team lead, you are a creative problem solver. You own the product user-centric experience by facilitating the design process in cross-departmental initiatives. A cohesive, simple and user-centric experience and an engaged team is your main priority. This is a really passionate and close-knit team of more than 10 people so far, so your passion for mentoring and team as well as project management is essential!

Our User Experience Team Lead will be responsible for collaborating with product managers, developers, designers, and researchers to build the best products on the market. You will spend time deeply understanding our users' needs and working with a talented team of designers to create a vision and solutions that deliver value. In this high-impact role, you’ll use data-driven decisions to create experiences that will scale and improve the workflow of millions of users.  

The art of making a complex tool accessible to all

Coveo is one of the most advanced in the field of search engines for companies and artificial intelligence tools on the market, and with this performance, we want to be able to make it accessible to all of our users. Coveo is a Canadian company with a highly ambitious team, a thriving tech and design community located in the heart of Quebec and Montreal.

 A typical Thursday:

  • Start your day by hanging out at the UX Coffee, on Zoom, with the team. What's new, what's old, what’s the new Miro feature?
  • Audrey, UX Designer, is finishing a prototype for a new user test round and she welcomes your feedback.
  • Before lunch, you have a quick call with Alex, Director of Product to revise the next quarter product roadmap
  • There is a Lunch & learn today about Design Analytics. Yum!
  • With a fresh coffee, you lead a Backlog Grooming session for the next Episode (design slang for Sprints at Coveo) with your team
  • It's already 2 pm, and there is a design review today. Lorraine is looking for feedback on the new Data Dashboards, and Gustavo on the new animations. #nomo (Not missing out)
  • Once the meeting is done, people stay a while, some open a beer. It’s Thursday after all.

Here’s what our perfect candidate would look like:

  • At least 2+ years of experience in UX/Design leadership and 7+ years of hands-on design experience
  • Experience with successfully managing a team of designers and building positive work relationships
  • Understands Agile and Scrum methodology and/or has work experience with Scrum 
  • Experience solving complex interaction design problems and designing complex workflows and visual systems
  • Experience with design tools (Axure, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Abstract, or similar)
  • Practical knowledge with design thinking, design sprint, facilitation or similar collaborative design methods
  • Experience with qualitative user research: user testing, user interview, concept validation, card sorting and so on
  • Proactive, organized and independent attitude; on a constant quest to improve and evolve the product.
  • Like to work in a collaborative space focused on teamwork, innovation and feedback.
  • A good sense of humour is crucial to enjoying working with this team!


  • BACKLOG: own and manage the UX backlog/bandwidth
  • PEER COLLABORATION: clarify the scope of work and timeframes with other Producers and Product managers
  • USER ADVOCATE: Be a fierce advocate for our user-centric design
  • MENTOR: Identify strengths of individual designers and facilitate their growth
  • BACKLOG RITUALS - facilitate team meetings: backlog grooming, backlog planning, design reviews, standups
  • COLLABORATIVE RITUALS: Lead Design Reviews, Kick-off meetings, Grooming Meeting or other product-related meetings
  • ROADMAP: Create UX roadmaps that align with product and engineering to ensure clear visibility into the future vision of the product 
  • COMMUNICATE: Manage up-, down-, internal-, external- communications regarding project scope, milestones, plot twists
  • OBJECTIVES: report and guide the UX bandwidth and scope according to time-based objectives established with the Design Director or similar stakeholders
