So to illustrate, that that power and the power of AI and relevance, it is it is really my my my true pleasure to, welcome a very special guest. Woodson Martin is the executive vice president at Salesforce and the global general manager of the AppExchange. And, and, you know, Winston and I are having a conversation here. Very good. So we just talked about the importance of relevance in digital experiences and journeys. And now who better than Woodson Martin, who's vice president and general manager of the AppExchange at Salesforce? You know, Woodson, last quarter at this event, I hosted Bozoma Saint John, the CMO of Netflix to talk about relevance and personalization. And and and the Salesforce app exchange really offers that Netflix like, you know, navigational experience for Salesforce customers. So let me start by asking, you know, is is this really, you know, the cons that consumerization of of business applications that that you've you've been able to do. You know? How how does Salesforce serve customers today through the AppExchange? Yeah. Great question. So, you know, Salesforce provides a customer three sixty platform that our customers can use to essentially wrap their whole business around their customers. And customer expectations, of course, have been shaped by our experiences and and the digital experiences, in our everyday lives, right, which have transformed so much over the last decade and probably just as much over the last year as over the last decade. And, you know, our app exchange is really where our ecosystem comes together around that customer three sixty platform and extends the sales, service, marketing, commerce, analytics solutions that Salesforce provides with literally thousands of offerings from independent software vendors and our partners to help extend those solutions or take them into whole new industries or domains, to help deliver customer success. And that's a big charter. The AppExchange is the, you know, leading enterprise cloud marketplace. Thousands of applications in that marketplace, kind of like I don't even know how many, shows are on Netflix. The importance of relevance, in the experience of users in a marketplace as rich as the AppExchange is critical, and that's why we love partnering with Coveo to help deliver on that. What were the problems you were were trying to solve, Woodson? And, you know, when you think way back when when you first looked at Coveo and and the goals, you know, that you had when you went into this, do you think you would really take it that far? You know, we say at Coveo move moving from persona to persons and and just really individualized? Well, it's a great question. You know, at Salesforce, let's talk about the problem first. You know, the our customers use our customer three sixty platform to blaze trails, to do new things, to drive innovation in their business, and delight their customers with powerful experiences and relevance and all the things we're talking about. And, so that's their expectation of us as well. Right? And that's really important. So how do we help them sift through all of the potential solutions that matter? Well, first, we have to start by collecting all the data that we can about their experience, everything that we're supposed to know about our customers that they want us to know about their experiences. How have they interacted with us, in our community? Where have they looked, on the AppExchange previously? What have they done in terms of learning on our Trailhead platform? We bring all of this intelligence together with a unified profile of our users, we call a trailblazer profile. And then we use Coveo technology to help tailor the experience of our marketplace of the AppExchange to personalize what they see. Now we started you you know, you ask what was our vision when we got started. You know, maybe it was a little more pedestrian than that at the very beginning. We're like, we would like search results to be more relevant. Right? Like, a lot of people search on our site Yeah. For whatever they're looking for. And that's really where we began. Simple stuff, Type ahead and ranking and using your algorithms to help rank those results based on relevance. If you search the Internet and look at Google, we all want that same kind of experience on these in these enterprise environments, and that's really what we've been able to do. That's the first things we've been able to do with Coveo, on the AppExchange. So it's it's and and it's been an incredible journey. And and and and and, you know, Salesforce is truly delivering that relevance across the customer life cycle. I mean, you know, we've been involved together working on self-service communities, you know, within service cloud, you know, when they when they talk to an agent, you know, within Trailhead, right, within the Einstein bots and, and the and the app exchange and really bringing that, you know, together. You know, what are, you know, is is that really the the the the ultimate vision is to is to, in fact, focus on the customer, not so much the product, you know, and and and really understanding using data to understand your your users at at the very individual and granular level so that you can be the most relevant to them? Yeah. That's right. I will say, you know, absolutely the relevance is the goal, because, of course, we're trying to ensure that customers can find what they need. Not really there for the shopping experience. Right? They're there for what they take home in the bag. It's like, well, you don't go to the mall really. I mean, sometimes you go to the mall to walk or see your friends. But, you know, we're really there, to shop, and that's because there's something that we need, a problem we're trying to solve. We wanna streamline the path to solution to that problem as best we can. And so, yes, that relevance. And part of it is personal. But in our world, part of it is also firmographic. Like, we need to understand the individual and our business, not just as a person, but also as a representative of an enterprise. And and and, you know, when we go on the AppExchange now, it's why I referred to that Netflix experience. You know, I I I often argue that Netflix understands what I'm gonna likely enjoy next, you know, better than I do. All I have to do is press play. You've taken it to a level where that's truly not only responsive and personalized, but really prescriptive where you're actually recommending, to individuals. Can you tell us a little bit how that works? On the AppExchange, Appy recommends, solutions, apps, to each individual user based on their Trailblazer profile. So when you come to the AppExchange, you not only see what's trending and popular, you also see the recommendations, that are just right, for where you are in your journey with Salesforce. All that they have told us through traversing our properties, through our community, and the conversations they're engaging there, and we're able to use that to help personalize the, the service period. Yeah. Exactly. You know, what what are some of the the the what you've seen of the impact of of serving people the way they wanna be served, actually? Yeah. Well, I mean, there's the basic things that are the measures that we all look at on any of our digital properties. Right? We look at our traffic, and then we look at the percentage of that traffic that we're able to convert, at different stages of our online funnel. And for us, a lot of that is conversion to opportunities for either Salesforce or our partners. And so we are able to use, these techniques of, personalization and relevance to help tune those results. And I'm, you know, happy to say that that's been a very successful project for us without getting into the specifics. You know, we've had a relationship for years. We have that relationship because it's working, for years, and we have been able to grow, the ability for our, our AppExchange marketplace to convert interest on the part of customers expressed through visits into lead generation and opportunity for our sales teams and for our partner sales teams, and that's really the ultimate measure for us. And and so Woodson, I I feel we could I I'm I'm fascinated here and we could talk forever. But, you know, I guess one last question is, what are the plans ahead? What are some of the challenges that you have in store for, for Coveo? Yeah. That's a great question. So, you know, as our marketplace continues to grow and Salesforce has added new products to our portfolio, and that attracts new partner products to our marketplace. And as more and more, solutions are available in this marketplace, the challenge for any individual trailblazer just grows to find, the right things. And so we are continuing to invest in the personalization, on the site, to take recommendations beyond just an application and looking at how can those recommendations be whole solutions. So applications that may involve technology from Salesforce or some of our partners together at the same time and bringing all of that value, to the customers just exactly when they need it. So for us, this is about more signals and, and ingesting more, into the brain, if you will, that's making the recommendations and the decisions for customers and, then more personalization. So, eventually, the whole site, becomes a personal experience. Right? And every time you come back, it brings you deeper into the journey, that takes you where you need to go to solve the problems that are in front of you. So it's an exciting vision.
