Today, Coveo announced the acquisition of Anglera, a San Francisco-based agentic product data enrichment company serving enterprise ecommerce.

Great Discovery Still Starts with Great Data

Coveo powers search and discovery across products, documents and support content for some of the largest enterprises worldwide, from Linde to Metcash and from Coles to Nespresso. But unlocking the full value of search and discovery both onsite and through AI assistants means solving the messy data problem. That is what Anglera does.

Search has come a long way. Semantic and multimodal search already understand meaning rather than just keywords, and match products from images as well as text. But three things have changed.

  1. Queries have become longer and more complex. With AI assistants now mainstream, customers now describe what they need in their own words. A shopper might ask for “lightweight running shoes that can handle heavy rain”. A maintenance buyer might ask for ‘a replacement pump that can fit an xb-2598 press’.
  1. Customers expect search to do more than retrieve products. Search is evolving to an Intent Box; customers want it to compare products, answer questions and guide them to the right choice, the way an expert would.
  1. Discovery moved beyond owned channels. A growing share of product research now starts in ChatGPT or Google Gemini, and these AI shopping agents recommend what they can understand.

Coveo already meets customers in each of these moments, with Conversational Product Discovery on site and Discovery for Agentic Channels in ChatGPT. But all three shifts defined above depend on one essential ingredient: rich product data.

Comparing two products requires both records to carry the same attributes; answering a fit question requires the record to hold the answer. Yet most catalogs carry gaps (a dishwasher with no dimensions), errors (a washer tagged as a refrigerator after a PIM migration) and inconsistencies (“Height: 34in” in one feed, “H: 34’” in another). The more search is asked to do, the more those gaps cost. On site and off, complete, structured data helps products get found.

Why Anglera

Product data quality has never been so critical, yet PIMs and search platforms weren’t designed to fix it. Where they do offer enrichment, it usually falls short for more complex enterprise needs, where the information that matters most often isn’t in the record at all. Especially in manufacturing and distribution, it lives in supplier spec sheets, manuals and spreadsheets. Getting it out takes a dedicated solution.

That’s where Anglera comes in. It was built AI-native from the start. Founded by Amay Aggarwal and Ray Iyer, who built catalog AI for Uber Eats’ retail expansion, and backed by Y Combinator, the team puts the latest models and agents to work on exactly that problem.

Its agents read beyond the feed, retrieving values from spec sheets, manuals, images and manufacturer web pages, even for long-tail suppliers who send no feed at all. Every value carries a citation and a confidence score, uncertain values go to a person for review and arbitration, and the customer’s own rules are applied to every SKU. Because enriched data is written back to the source system, search, product pages, feeds and AI agents all benefit, not just one index.

With Anglera, Coveo is investing in the product data foundation that increasingly determines what discovery can deliver, so its customers have the right tool to finally fix this thorny problem: an AI-native, agentic solution built for enterprise scale, where categories carry hundreds of attributes, catalogs draw on thousands of suppliers, and a wrong spec means a wrong order. At that scale, enrichment can’t be a manual process. Anglera focuses on exactly those challenges for large retailers, manufacturers and distributors, the same enterprises Coveo serves.

Why This Acquisition Matters

“As customers ask search to do more, from answering questions to guiding decisions, product data becomes the next frontier of relevance. Anglera reads the source documents, traces every value to its source and improves the record itself, so every experience Coveo powers, from product search to conversational product discovery, can go even further.”
Peter Curran, Chief Product Officer, Coveo

“We started Anglera because the information shoppers and buyers need is usually sitting in a PDF nobody has time to read. Joining Coveo puts our agents behind some of the most demanding commerce experiences in the world, and gives us the opportunity to bring our strengths together to create even better buying experiences for the customers we serve.”
Ray Iyer, Co-Founder, Anglera

“Pairing Coveo’s insight into what buyers are searching for with our enrichment means we can identify gaps and fix the product data that’s costing customers sales. With Coveo, we can bring that technology to enterprise commerce at scale.”
Amay Aggarwal, Co-founder of Anglera.

What this Means for Customers

For Coveo customers, the upside is significant. Richer, source-backed product data makes product discovery experiences better, from traditional search to recommendations and conversational exploration. Customers can start today, with Anglera’s enrichment flowing back to their source systems for Coveo to index, and we already have an exciting integration roadmap to bring the two even closer together.
