Section Subsection Description
Available Features Panels

Determines which pages are available in the Search Interface. Note that the Search page (containing the search box and result list) is not displayed because it is always available.

Initial page: Displays a search box and filter drop-down lists. Note that this page is displayed when the Search Interface is accessed-before any query is performed. If the Initial page is not available, the Default one is displayed instead. See also: Search Interface Help > What Is the Content of the Initial Page?

Advanced Search page: Displays advanced search fields. If this page is not available, advanced searches can be performed from the Search page. See also: Search Interface Help > How to Perform an Advanced Search, Search Interface Help > What Is the Content of the Search Page?

Inlin Advanced Search page: Actives the inline Advanced Search page. The inline Advanced Search page is displayed when  is clicked after performing the search; whereas, if it is clicked before performing the search, a full Advanced Search page is displayed.

Preferences page: Displays user preferences. If this page is not available, users cannot customize their Search Interface. See also: How to Modify Preference Defaults, Search Interface Help > How to Modify Preferences

Miscellaneous

Determines which options are available in the Search Interface.

Refine by cluster: Allows to display results from a single cluster. Note that, for this option to be available, result clustering must be enabled in the Administration Tool (for more information, refer to Administration Tool Help > How to Enable Result Clustering).

See also: Administration Tool Help > What Is Result Clustering?, Search Interface Help > What Are Refinements?

Saved queries and filters: Allows to save query expressions in order to reapply them later. See also: Search Interface Help > What Are Saved Queries and Filters?

Search Within Results: Allows to perform a second search to refine the content of the result list (i.e. only documents present in the list are queried).

Enable RSS Feed: Allows to send results through a RSS feed.

Export to Microsoft Excel: Allows to save results in Excel format.

Search as you type: Allows to display the most pertinent results corresponding to a query expression as it is entered in the search box (i.e. before  is clicked).

Enable Search Highlights: Activates the possibility to display the People or Site type results above the main result list (for example in SharePoint). For now, it is suggested to select Enable Search Highlights only when SharePoint sources are indexed. If the checkbox is not selected, the search is performed more rapidly.

Use Silverlight Player: Displays the new player developed for audio and video files in Silverlight; however, because not everybody has this new player, the old player (based on Windows Media Player) is used by default.

Do not interpret operators in lowercase: Does not interpret operators in lowercase. For example, if Coveo is not compatible is queried, not is not interpreted as an operator. When Do not interpret operators in lowercase is selected and the user wants Coveo Enterprise Search (CES) to interpret the operators, it is important to enter them in uppercase (i.e. Coveo NOT compatible).

Customize Display Show/hide

Determines which icons and checkboxes are displayed in the Search Interface.

Logo: Displays the logo whose address is entered in the Customize Logosubsection. Note that, by default, the Coveo logo is displayed.

Collection checkboxes: Displays checkboxes allowing to query specific collections. Note that this option applies only to the Initial and Search pages. Collection checkboxes are displayed by default in the Advanced Search page.

Query Comments: Displays information concerning the query refinements used (e.g. which author, document type and modification date are used to narrow results). See also: Search Interface Help > What Are Refinements?

Top results icons: Displays a star icon ( ) to identify top results. See also: Administration Too Help > What Are Top Results?

Uri of the logo image (leave empty for the default one): Indicates the address of the logo to display.

Uri of the logo hyperlink (leave empty for no hyperlink): Indicates the page where users are redirected if they click the logo. Note that this parameter is optional.

Feeds N/A

Determines the parameters of the RSS feed used to send results. Note that Enable RSS Feed must be selected in the Miscellaneous subsection in order for this option to be available in the Search Interface.

Title (leave empty for the default one): Indicates the title of the feed. By default, the title is Search Results for 'QueryExpression', where QueryExpression is replaced by the appropriate expression.

Description (leave empty for no description): Describes the content of the feed.

Time to live (in minutes; leave empty for no time to live): Indicates the number of minutes during which a feed can be cached before being refreshed from the source. Note that a value higher than 60 minutes decreases bandwidth usage; whereas, a lower value increases the refresh rate of the feed.

Maximum number of returned items (leave empty for default: 100): Indicates the maximum number of results returned each time the feed is refreshed.

Include author name in results information: Indicates whether the author of each document is specified in the feed's result information or not.

Include author name after the excerpt in results description: Indicates whether the author of each document is displayed after the corresponding excerpt.

Search Provider Name

Allows to publish a search provider, then integrate it with Internet Explorer. This feature allows to override the name of the provider, for example it is possible to customize the name of a company's intranet.

Description

Allows to override the description of the search provider.

Advanced Hidden search filter

Adds a transparent expression to the query. For example, the filter @sysyear>2005 can be used to display only documents modified after 2005. However, users are not aware of the restriction.
