Information mash-ups, social search, Outlook Sidebar interface, analytics and more, provide composite views of information across the enterprise to improve decision making and operational efficiency
CHICAGO and QUEBEC CITY – March 2, 2010 – Coveo, a leading provider of enterprise search and customer information access solutions, today announced the availability of its Enterprise Search Platform Version 6.1. This latest release features new interfaces, expanded Enterprise 2.0 capabilities, additional connectivity, search analytics, and complete desktop and email indexing.
The Coveo Enterprise Search Platform 6.1 combines structured and unstructured data from any enterprise system onto Coveo's proprietary unified index – all without moving data. This lets organizations search for information across multiple databases, including Enterprise 2.0 systems, and see the information in a single view, helping to improve decision making and operational efficiency.
Sue Feldman, Research Vice President, Search and Discovery Technologies, IDC said, "Information work requirements are already driving organizations to seek better, more interactive work environments for their employees. Forward thinking organizations are seeking an integrated information access and management platform that pulls together a variety of common functions. These new search-based applications use search and discovery technologies to unify access across multiple sources and formats of information."
"Coveo 6.1 significantly expands on Coveo's well-known ease of use with our new user interfaces, and further enables the unified indexing layer with complete PST, desktop, and email indexing," said Laurent Simoneau, CEO, Coveo. "We look forward to bringing these innovations to new and existing customers to provide actionable intelligence on business processes that will generate immediate value."
Key components of the Coveo Enterprise Search Platform 6.1 include:
New Search Interfaces: Coveo Outlook Sidebar and Coveo Floating Desktop Searchbar
Coveo Enterprise Search Platform Version 6.1 includes new user interfaces including the Coveo Outlook Sidebar and the Coveo Floating Desktop Searchbar, allowing users to easily "search where they work."
The Coveo Outlook Sidebar helps users to easily pinpoint emails, attachments, contact details and even search across other enterprise systems, without ever leaving Outlook. Within the Outlook Sidebar, users also see location, photos, contact information and even availability, helping geographically distributed colleagues feel more connected. The intuitive Desktop Searchbar "floats" over any Windows application to provide instant access to the unified search interface.
Marc Bélanger, Partner, Dallaire Forest Kirouac, an independent member of DFK International, said, "After adopting a paperless work environment a few years ago, it was important to have a search solution that could easily and quickly locate and access information and knowledge. We tried several solutions, only to find them very complex and difficult to use."
He continued, "Then we thankfully discovered Coveo and the Coveo Outlook Sidebar. Its intuitive, clean interface, ease of use, and impressive performance, completely transforms the way we manage information, and the speed at which we conduct our business. Our use of Coveo has even been noticed by our clients, who are impressed with our ability to quickly access the right knowledge and information, to help serve them better."
Also featured in Coveo 6.1 are Enterprise 2.0 and Social Search
elements, that leverage the "wisdom of crowds," communities, and more. Coveo's custom-built connectors can now index Enterprise 2.0 social networking platforms including Jive and Confluence. Now, end users can search content across Enterprise 2.0 systems, and display results in a unified view with information from other enterprise systems, when performing searches.
According to Enterprise 2.0 thought leader Dion Hinchcliffe's recent blog post, "As Enterprise 2.0 makes a much larger volume of actionable information available within organizations, there will be the growing challenge of keeping track of it and finding what you need. While we don't want to stop this flow of information, we do need to make it manageable and useful."
Coveo 6.1 also enables the creation of dynamic information mash-ups and dashboards. Combining both structured and unstructured data from virtually any enterprise system into the central, unified index layer allows Coveo to produce composite views of information that can help to provide new, actionable perspectives on many business processes, from customer service to sales and overall corporate governance. Such just-in-time, composite views of key metrics and information improve decision-making and operational efficiency.
Coveo Search Analytics provide valuable insights into the usage, relevance and completeness of the knowledge within an organization, allowing search processes to be evolved and the most relevant content to be promoted correctly. Coveo Search Analytics give sophisticated insights into how people are using the system.
Even faster query performance and more efficient indexing in Version 6.1 further set the pace for the enterprise search industry. Increased indexing speed for large indexes, mirror synchronization and high query volume support all establish new standards for high volume, high content, geographically distributed search programs.
