How to enable secure search access from outside your office (HTTPS)?

To provide search access from outside your office, we recommend that you publish the Expresso search web site using HTTPS connections.

To do so, you must first acquire a certificate for the website. This certificate can be provided by an authoritative public source (generally for a fee) or your own company's Certification Authority. Once obtained, install the certificate on your IIS server.

For more information, consult:

Once the website hosting Expresso is ready to be accessed through HTTPS connections, all you have to do is to change the URL in the Administration tool of Expresso. This is required so that the Desktop Integration Package applications and the BlackBerry MIDlet now point to the new secured URL. To do so, click the Settings menu, select Desktop and Blackberry Integration and change the Search Interface URL to match your HTTPS address (for instance: https://expresso-svr.corp.xyz.com ).

You can also create a Group Policy Object to add the Search URL to the Intranet section of Internet Explorer (eliminating the need for users to authenticate). Similarly, a Group Policy Object can also be used to add the URL to the browser favorites of your users.
