Award-winning Search Capabilities Extended to Popular Software Package

February 28, 2005- - In response to customer demand, Coveo Solutions Inc., pioneer of integrated and secure search solutions for the desktop, Intranet and Web, has developed a version of its flagship product Coveo Enterprise Search (CES) that securely indexes and retrieves content stored in Microsoft SharePoint™ Portal Technologies (SPT). The new product, called Coveo Enterprise Search for Microsoft SharePoint Portal Technologies, is set for release in early March 2005. Coveo is among the first vendors to offer full integration of pure search into Microsoft's prominent collaboration platform.

With the introduction of CES for SPT, all of the powerful search functionality of CES will be available for organizations that have deployed SPT. The addition of CES to SPT creates an enriched experience for the SPT end user and increases the value of a company's Microsoft implementation by augmenting portal content availability for employees.

Customers recognized and requested the enhancements that CES can offer for the SPT user, including:

  • Intelligent summarization and concept extraction technologies, both of which help users optimize their search experience.
  • A "View as HTML" feature that provides cached HTML versions with highlighted query terms for Microsoft Office documents, Adobe PDFs and other non-HTML documents.
  • Improved relevance with query capabilities based on powerful syntax that supports spelling suggestion, stemming, exact phrase and Boolean operators.
  • Configurable search preferences that allow users to tailor the search experience to their liking.
  • Advanced handling of metadata and XML data to provide more accurate search results.
  • Plug-in-style integration with SPT so that users are presented with the familiar look and feel of the SPT environment.
  • Robust search technology that leverages existing SPT security to control access to sensitive company data.

With a CES solution in place, SPT users can find internal information more quickly and easily, making the company portal an integral part of individual productivity. Administrators can take advantage of the ease-of-use that CES provides to improve the stickiness of the corporate portal and thereby leverage the existing Microsoft technology investment.
